THE PYP AT ISR
ISR is an authorized IB World School for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
The PYP, for children aged 3 - 12, nurtures and develops young students as active participants in a lifelong journey of learning.
The PYP is an authentic inquiry-based learning and teaching programme that is engaging, significant, challenging and relevant.
The programme offers an inquiry-based and concept-driven transdisciplinary model of learning and teaching, supported by a strong understanding of how students learn.
The transdisciplinary model extend sacross all three pillars of the PYP curriculum framework: the learner, learning and teaching, and the learning community.
The learner: describes the outcomes for individual students and the outcomes they seek for themselves.
Learning and teaching: articulates the distinctive features of learning and teaching.
The learning community: emphasises the importance of the social outcomes of learning and the role that IB communities play in achieving these outcomes.

An inquiry into rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution.
SHARING THE PLANET
Note: Four Units of Inquiry are required for Early Years to allow for extended units and emerging inquiries.
Guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, our learners broaden their learning by developing their conceptual understandings, strengthening their knowledge and skills across, between and beyond subject areas.
THE PYP AT ISR
EARLY YEARS
As an IB World School authorized for the PYP, ISR and the Early Years department follows the IB Primary Years Programme in an Early Years setting.
Through an inquiry-based programme, we encourage and foster the children to become global citizens who are independent learners, risk-takers, inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and principled.
The PYP transdisciplinary framework offers young students authentic opportunities to focus on key developmental abilities such as communication and self-management skills.
The learning community values the early years as a time in which play is the primary driver for inquiry. Through play-based learning, children develop and nurture fundamental knowledge and skills.
(Taken from the Inquiry through play document).
Play involves choice, promotes agency, and provides opportunities to inquire into important concepts and personal interests.
THE PYP AT ISR
PRIMARY SCHOOL
As an integral part of the IB Primary Years Programme, our Primary curriculum takes a transdisciplinary approach to learning.
Within a carefully planned curriculum, children are given the time to explore concepts and construct theories together with teachers in a small group context.
Our learners are encouraged to:
(1) Explore and elaborate their understanding through all their expressive, creative verbal, and mathematical languages.
(2) Construct understanding by making connections between mathematics, logic, science, digital technology, and the expressive arts.
(3) Construct relationships within a full immersion English Language context that gives value to each child’s own unique cultural identity.
